At last a concrete time frame for the release of "How to make money online: Do it yourself e-commerce".

Mid November 2009 should see full availability of my new book. Sorry it took so long and sorry I have announced earlier dates that never came to fruition. I can honestly say there is no forseeable event that could delay it further. Probably because every forseeable delaying event has already happened.

A good question. BusinessDreams.net has been under construction now for over a year! WOW! Why? Well quite simply there is so much I want to put on it that it simply has been a mamouth job. I have not been sitting on my hands or anything like that.

Actually there are a few other reasons. First off I have had a personal nightmare trying to decide the structure, layout and look of the site. My intention for this site, which I hope is now obvious is to help anybody, especially beginners to start a new web business and make money online. However I wanted the website to be alot more comprehensive than that.

I wanted to have reviews of all the business opportunities web hosting and turn key shopping cart packages. Book reviews for e-commerce and web business related titles, business and online marketing news etc. I designed the web site accordingly with lots of 'home pages' for all the major categories. It quickly became apparent that this approach was far too ambitious.

The sections would be too small and insignificant. Not only this but all the menu options and side boxes on the site would cause clutter and obscure the real message.

What to expect from Zen Cart 2

Dear Zen Cart Users and Supporters

We would like to apologize for the lack of updates regarding the progress of V2.0 and of course the delay in releasing the Beta.

While refactoring and testing the changes to core code we decided that there were some fundamental flaws in the legacy code, especially related to how tax calculations were carried out in various places but especially in the Shopping Cart class.

The shopping cart class was scheduled for a rewrite in a future release (Checkout rewrite) however it was felt that these flaws in the legacy code really needed to be addressed before the beta release.

This has obviously meant a delay in the release, but we hope you will find the improvements worthwhile, especially those people struggling with niggling rounding problems, tax calculation discrepancies etc.

We don't have a revised release date yet.

So there you have it. I still have a feeling it WILL be worth the wait.

The imminent release of the Zen Cart 2 beta is the first phase of the most anticipated e-commerce shopping cart arrival in a long time! It gives the Zen Cart team a chance to build on their already dominant position in the non CMS open source e-commerce solutions arena. The other shopping cart & CMS offerings will still have their place but when will it be here? What will it do that is new? And can/should I change my stores to Zen Cart 2?
