The first thing to make clear is that with the appropriate skills and hard work you can achieve almost any e-commerce task with any option. However the implementation of some advanced features are outside the scope of a guide like this. And the different 'built in' features of the available options makes for a range of pros and cons within the context of this guide, and generally as well, for a new business. What I am very carefully trying to avoid is saying that one option is BETTER than the others. There is no best software, but there is an option that is BEST FOR YOU. In the world of E-Commerce software the biggest players with the largest numbers of stores are Zen Cart and osCommerce. Amazingly they are both completely free. It is possible to get better but not without spending thousands. I will show you how to install both Zen Cart and osCommerce and will shortly explain the differences to help you choose which is best for your business.

Despite the apparently definitive statement above there is also another consideration. The generally undisputed champion for 'information' web sites is Joomla. Simply speaking if you plan to become an info-preneur, somebody who's core business is supplying information and making money through various streams on top of this then Joomla is probably the software of choice for you.
